Gould taught at South End Junior School, and was also leader of a Methodist Church youth group, thereby having ample access to young boys in his care. The abuse happened at the school, including during chess club and after PE lessons, at the Park Road Methodist Church in Rushden, and on a school trip to Wales.
Gould's actions amount to a profound breach of the trust and abuse of power vested in him as the boys' school teacher. Their victim impact statements read out at the hearing were moving accounts of how their lives had been deeply marred his Gould's abuse.

We are gathering evidence to support our clients' civil compensation claims.
