As we embrace 2025, Emmott Snell Solicitors is excited to reaffirm our commitment to sustainability. Our New Year's resolution is to lead by example in reducing our environmental impact and championing a greener future. We believe that even small changes can be effective in minimising our carbon footprint, and we are dedicated to integrating eco-friendly practices into every aspect of our operations.

Here are some of the ways we aim to mitigate our environmental impact:

Sustainable commuting

Our team is dedicated to reducing carbon emissions by opting for sustainable transportation options for our daily commutes. Many of our team members choose to travel by:

  • Train: Utilising public transport to minimise individual carbon footprints.
  • Walking: Promoting health and reducing emissions by choosing to walk.
  • Cycling: Encouraging an active lifestyle while being environmentally conscious.
  • Electric cars: Opting for electric vehicles to support cleaner air and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

These choices not only significantly lower our carbon footprint but also contribute to a healthier and more active lifestyle, with mental health and wellbeing benefits too.

Thoughtful deliveries

In our quest to cut down on carbon emissions, we are also strategic about our deliveries such as stationery orders, ensuring we avoid frequent small deliveries that contribute to pollution. By consolidating our orders, we minimise the environmental impact of transportation and reduce packaging waste. This approach not only supports our sustainability goals but also encourages our suppliers to adopt more eco-friendly practices.

Mindful paper usage

We are committed to minimising paper waste by going digital whenever possible. As a ‘’paper lite’’ practice, our office utilises digital documents and communications to reduce paper usage. When paper usage is necessary, we ensure it is recycled and used efficiently.

This not only helps in conserving resources, but also aligns with our ultimate goal of creating a paperless office environment.

Eco-friendly products

We proudly use "Who Gives A Crap" toilet paper, made from 100% from Bamboo, which is a type of grass and grows incredibly quickly, or 100% recycled paper. This choice supports sustainable production and helps reduce deforestation. Who Gives a Crap also donates 50% of their profits and have raised over £9,000,000 to help with their mission to ensure everyone in the world has access to clean water and a toilet.

By selecting products that are environmentally friendly and give back to people in need, we are supporting companies that prioritise sustainability and encouraging others to make similar choices.

‘’No plastic’’ policy

We try and operate a ‘’no plastic’’ in the office policy, encouraging all staff to subscribe to this.

To reduce plastic waste, we have been using refillable hand soap dispensers. This initiative not only cuts down on single-use plastic but also supports our clean and green office environment. By choosing refillable options, we are reducing our reliance on disposable products and promoting a culture of reuse and sustainability.

Composting initiatives

Our sustainability efforts extend to our kitchen, where we compost tea bags and food waste. This reduces landfill waste.

Composting is a simple yet effective way to reduce waste and return valuable nutrients to the earth into our team members’ gardens! We are proud to incorporate this practice into our daily routine.

Continuous improvement

At Emmott Snell, we regularly review our practices during our weekly team meetings to ensure we continue to evolve towards an eco-friendlier environment. We are encouraged to come up with ‘’Eco Tip of the Week’’. We are committed to exploring new ways to reduce our environmental impact and to inspire others to join us in our efforts.

At Emmott Snell Solicitors, we believe every action counts. By integrating these eco-friendly practices into our daily operations, we are doing our part to protect the environment and inspire others to join us in making a difference. Our New Year's resolution is to build on these efforts and inspire others to create a more sustainable future with us.
