Bedford Legal Walk 2019

On 27th June 2019, Emmott Snell again took part in the annual Bedford Legal Walk, which is a 10K sponsored walk around Bedford, organised by the Eastern Legal Support Trust.

The walk raises money for local charities and organisations that provide legal advice to those of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our society.

Chorister wins compensation for sexual abuse by Chelmsford Priest

This firm has represented a former chorister in a civil action against the Diocese of Chelmsford for sexual abuse he suffered as a child.

“Mr X” has successfully obtained a substantial out-of-court settlement after bringing a compensation claim for serious psychiatric harm he suffered as a child following sexual abuse by his parish priest.

First UK conviction of FGM

On Friday 1st February, a 37 year old mother from Walthamstow, East London was found guilty of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) after mutilating her 3 year old daughter in the summer of 2017. She has become the first person in the UK to be convicted of FGM and is due to be sentence on 8th March.

Abuse cases in Coventry Children's Homes

In 2017, eight care workers were charged after a police investigation into historical child abuse at a children’s home in Coventry.

These men were accused of a total of 29 offences (which included counts of child cruelty, indecent assaults and one rape of a child) against 15 children whilst working at Wisteria Lodge between 1981-1997.
